Clog, which "explores, from multiple viewpoints and through a variety of means, a single subject particularly relevant to architecture now", has produced a lovely collection of thoughts, essays, interviews, and photographs, on the architecture of Apple. When prompting architects to comment on the design proposal for the Apple Campus 2, here are a few of the major and visceral responses:
- "Barbarism with a (non-)human face." - Sanford Kwinter
- "It is hard to think of a more analog building, as if a huge lofty lab from the fifties has simply been heated and bent all the way round into a ring, a spaceship from the past, more a messenger of the ground than of the digital clouds to come." - Mark Wigley
- " I love the garden, miss the bite..." - Jacob van Rijs
- "...panopti-lawn..." - Adam Hayes and Mark Kroeckel
In an era in which we are witnessing the dispersal of centers, it's interesting to see Apple try to reinvent the circle - with encounters, and collisions of creativity.
